JASPER WOODS
Stories told round a fire.
Who's Jasper Woods?
Jasper Woods is a son of the western Kansas plains and a Dane by ancestry. His first memory is of a tumbleweed blowing down a dry run of road through his neighborhood, tin homes full of black velvet paintings of Elvis and Spanish Bulls. Nomadic most of his life, Jasper roamed across much of the Midwest including Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Wisconsin with brief stints in Oregon and Vermont. He writes climate-focused speculative fiction and believes the identity of all people of Big Blue must be honored and once we get on to getting along as people, we can get on to healing our home here in the goldilocks zone of the vastness.
About the Art
Movies have cool trailers and I thought, why not my book––The Granite Letter?! Soooo, I reach out to artists to create. I send them words from the book, and they run off and make art! The images are intended to evoke rather than depict.
While I am primarily connecting with outsider artists (self-taught, if you’re unfamiliar), some collaborators are formally trained, most are just starting out. All are awesome. The intention is to provide exposure to these skilled and unique artists (plus, a cool trailer for my book –– The Granite Letter). Wherever you see an attribution to an artist, the link will take you to their Instagram site. Have the fun.
